Leather cleaning
What makes Leather Cleaner special
Leather Cleaner is a highly effective yet gentle leather cleaner with biodegradable active ingredients and glycerin. The pH-neutral formulation allows regular cleaning of all leather areas without attacking the leather – unlike solvent-based cleaners that accelerate leather aging and can remove color.
Leather Cleaner is applied before leather conditioning and sealing – combined with the cleaning brush, the perfect solution for leather cleaning. For heavy or older soiling, Leather Cleaner Forte with higher cleaning power is recommended.
Leather Cleaner / Forte application
- Shake the bottle before use.
- Spray Leather Cleaner onto the cleaning brush and work in with circular motions.
- Wipe in one direction only with a Micro-Wash microfiber cloth or Detail Towel. Do not rub!
- Let the leather dry completely, then treat with Leather Milk.
Important: Do not use Leather Cleaner on buffalo or suede leather.
Leather care Leather Milk
What makes Leather Milk special
Leather care
Swissvax Leather Milk is an easy-to-use, efficient and effective emulsifier-based care product for all smooth leathers.
Leather Milk has been enriched with vitamin E, glycerine and UV filters to optimise and maintain the natural moisture balance of the leather. After thoroughly cleaning the leather with Leather Cleaner (Standard or Forte), Leather Milk is applied evenly using a Swissvax cotton applicator (white) and is absorbed within one to two hours after application. It leaves no residue on clothing. Laborious polishing is not necessary. Repeat the process every six months.
Leather Milk application
- Clean the leather with Leather Cleaner.
- Shake the bottle before use.
- Apply Leather Milk evenly with the white cotton applicator.
- Let it absorb.
Important: Do not use Leather Milk on buffalo or suede leather.
Leather sealing
What makes Leather Glaze special
Leather Glaze keeps new leather new. The colorless, matte sealant dries in minutes and noticeably reduces abrasion and wear marks. Even in new cars, the driver's seat, steering wheel, and shift knob quickly show signs of use – these areas should be protected early with Leather Glaze.
Leather Glaze is also excellent protection against jeans dye transfer on light leather. Transferred dye can be easily removed with Leather Cleaner and leaves no lasting damage.
Leather Glaze application
Application LEATHER GLAZE
- Clean leather with Swissvax Leather Cleaner. Degrease greasy and stressed surfaces with leather benzine (or cleaning benzine).
- After cleaning or tinting, apply a thin layer of Swissvax Leather Glaze carefully from seam to seam using a sponge.
- Repeat the process if necessary.
- Discolouration of clothing is still possible, but can be removed more easily as it adheres to the sealant and not to the leather.
- Treat with Swissvax Leather Milk the next day.
Gloss Corrector
Matte or glossy?
Heavily used leather surfaces such as the steering wheel, armrests, and shift knob begin to shine over time.
Gloss Corrector Matt restores the more matte original appearance. Gloss Corrector Shiny is the counterpart and gives a more glossy appearance – for example when a piece of leather has been replaced on a youngtimer or classic.
Gloss Corrector application
Application GLOSS CORRECTOR
- Clean leather surfaces well. Degrease greasy and stressed surfaces with cleaning petrol.
- Shake the Gloss Corrector bottle well.
- Apply Gloss Corrector with a sponge in a circular motion (avoid streaks) or dab on if more thickness is required. Each additional application intensifies the effect. Allow to dry in between.
Leather Healer / Leather tinting
Re-tint leather yourself
Driver's seats, seat bolsters, steering wheels, and shift knobs show color abrasion and scratches over time. Leather Healer is a highly pigmented leather tint applied with a sponge, which self-fixes and does not rub off. It refreshes the color perfectly and evenly without losing the natural "look and feel" of the leather.
Leather Healer is available in 46 standard shades or mixed individually for you. Contact us for color matching or send us a small leather sample.
Leather Healer application
Application LEATHER HEALER
- First check the product for changes in a concealed area.
- Clean leather with Swissvax Leather Cleaner. Degrease greasy and stressed surfaces with white spirit (or cleaning spirit).
- Shake Swissvax Leather Healer bottle well.
- Apply Swissvax Leather Healer with a sponge in a circular motion (avoid streaks) or dab on if a thicker layer is required. Repeat the process several times. Allow to dry in between.
- Treat with Swissvax Leather Milk the next day.
Leather Wax / Water protection
Protect against water drops
Leather in convertibles, sill bolsters, and all smooth leather exposed to water droplets should be treated regularly with Leather Wax. The pure synthetic fat does not brown in the sun, does not oxidize, and provides no nutrient base for mold – properties that leading museums worldwide also value for their leather care.
Leather Wax application
Application Swissvax Leather Wax
- Clean the leather with Swissvax Leather Cleaner.
- Massage the leather grease sparingly (!) into the leather with a cloth.
- If possible, treat both sides of very old leather.
- Repeat the application regularly.
IMPORTANT Do not use Swissvax Leather Wax on buffalo or suede leather.
Leather Softener
Treat hardened leather
Leather hardens for two reasons: drying out from lack of care, or "gluing" – the shrinkage of leather due to heat exposure. Vegetable-tanned hides in classics are particularly affected.
Leather Softener is a purely synthetic oil that does not degrade like animal oils. It restores suppleness to the leather and protects against further breakdown. For leathers with a very smooth, closed surface, pre-treat with the leather sanding pad to improve absorption.
Leather Softener application
Application LEATHER SOFTENER
- Clean smooth leather with Swissvax Leather Cleaner.
- If necessary, carefully sand the surface with a leather sanding pad.
- Apply Swissvax Leather Softener with a sponge or cloth. Leave the leather to rest for one to two days. Several thin coats are gentler than one heavily soaking coat, so repeat the process if necessary.
